Tove Sundt-Hansen
Born in 1959. Lives and works in Stavanger, Norway.
Sundt-Hansen is educated at the Norwegian Academy of Fine Arts in Oslo. As a visual artist, she mainly expresses herself through painting and drawing using historical and modern techniques. Philosophy and methodology linked to meditative processes inform her artistic approach.
Artist statement
I paint and draw. It is a powerful action that unites concepts and emotions. I am attracted to poetic expressions in the dynamics of life. I build content and form through large, broad brushstrokes and let the color and its power emerge through the many transparent layers of pigments and paint. The work process is an exercise in being centred and available to the forces that will become visible and enduring. I use both historical and modern techniques as needed. Charcoal, pastel, egg tempera and acrylic painting with gilding are close to my heart.
